Day 212
Spousal Abuse
"And the two shall become One. . ." (Genesis 2:24; Mark 10:8; Ephesians 5:31)
"One what?" is the question that demands an answer. The inability to answer, or even approach the depth of this Oneness, is what leads to brokenness, a brokenness perhaps even undetected until now. This brokenness reflects the ignorance of the primary pattern which is intended to be the greatest of Heaven's images; marriage and the secret of what marriage represents. This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about the Messiah and the assembly. (Ephesians 5:32)
It's time to start over husbands and wives. Or perhaps it's time to realign your intent, those of you seeking marriage. Foundational errors directly affect the peace, joy, power and purpose of a Heavenly marriage.
For those of you already thinking, "We're good; our relationship is good," I would again challenge you to answer the above question. "One what?" Or, let us ask it another way; "What is Yahweh's intent in joining together a man and a woman as one flesh?" And as you meditate on this, please consider His utmost intent. The wrong answer here determines whether one or both of you are truly "good."
If you have already entered the covenant of marriage, the wrong answer means you are abusing each other, and truth be told, as His ultimate intent of Oneness is magnified, you already sense you have been missing something. Before now, you might not have known the right question and, therefore, you could not have the correct answer, the answer which would heal the chasm between your concept of marriage and His.
Try this out and see how it feels, how it stirs your thoughts within: "And the two shall become. . . Yahweh." You might find it profound, or perhaps profoundly wise, that the Hebrew language describes the number "two" as "opposition." The opposing (two) shall become One (Yahweh). . . .that they all may be One, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be One in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be One just as We are One: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in One, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. (John 17:21-23)
Can you see (spiritually perceive) it loved one? Yahweh brings together two individuals who, according to "self," are naturally opposed to His Heavenly mandates. And He does this in order to help each individual find their way back to His "One Will," to be conformed into His image as One.
Marriage was meant to bring a man (dominant ideas) and a woman (compassionate ideas) together, so each could glean specific attributes of Yahweh from one another, and become One with the Light and Life within. The living example and permission to do so comes via the perfecting of Yahshua the Messiah, first of Himself through what He suffered (Hebrews 2:10), and then by the strength He makes available to us. I can do all things through the Messiah who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13)
"I'm going to marry the one who will help me become, and who I can help become, more like Yahweh." Was or is this your intent for marriage? Is this what you were thinking about when you were so sure you knew that he or she was "the one?" Or was every thought of why you would marry about the benefits you could receive for your "self?"
Spousal abuse will never be allowed in His Kingdom. So now what? Purification and renewal is always through repentance. Husbands and wives, repent! Everyone considering marriage for the wrong reasons, repent! Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. (Matthew 4:17)
